From Sorrow to Solidarity: Join Us in Relief for Myanmar
With heavy hearts, we mourn the devastation caused by the earthquake in Myanmar. The loss and suffering are overwhelming, touching every corner of our community.
Amidst the chaos, we are profoundly grateful to the Malaysian Smart Team and their government for their heroic efforts. Even during the sacred time of Hari Raya Eid, they chose to be with us, offering life-saving aid and donations instead of celebrating with their families. Their compassion lights our darkest days.
Now, more than ever, we call upon Myanmar organizations and citizens worldwide to join us in this crucial mission. Let’s come together to shelter and uplift those who have suffered so greatly.
The Myanmar Ethnics Organization (MEO) is initiating our relief efforts with RM 2,000.00, and we invite you to extend your support.
Triune Centre's Generous Donation Empowers MEO's Mission
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Triune Centre for their incredible generosity in donating 30 chairs to the Myanmar Ethnics Organization (MEO). This thoughtful contribution has truly transform the office, turning them into meaningful spaces where voices unite, stories are shared, and dreams are nurtured. Having comfortable and reliable seating allows us to better accommodate our community during meetings, training sessions, and other important activities that foster learning and connection.
This generous support goes beyond simply meeting a practical need — it symbolizes solidarity and belief in the mission we share: empowering and uplifting individuals and creating opportunities for growth and unity. Contributions like these inspire us to continue working with renewed passion and commitment.
We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Sian Hoih for their invaluable help in ensuring that these chairs found their perfect home at the MEO office. It’s heartening to see how the right resources can make such a meaningful impact when matched with the right need.
Once again, thank you to the Triune Centre for their kindness and support. Your contribution has made a tangible difference, and we are deeply grateful for your belief in our vision.
MEO participated in Discussion on Safe Migration and Refugee Issues Held at UNHCR Office
On December 5, 2024, We participated a discussion held at the UNHCR conference hall. The event included representatives from IOM, NGOs in Malaysia, community leaders, Australian refugee officials, and border forces, focusing on safe migration practices and the challenges faced by refugees.
During the meeting, participants emphasized that entering Australia by boat without proper authorization is not permitted. Attendees encouraged community leaders to repeatedly caution refugees not to trust smugglers’ claims about entering Australia illegally, as such actions would only waste money and time.
The session also highlighted the importance of honesty for those filling out Form 842, attending UNHCR interviews, or undergoing Australian embassy interviews. Participants were reminded to provide accurate information, fulfill all requirements, and avoid any form of dishonesty.
We also contributed by sharing insights into the challenges faced by refugees in Malaysia, including delays in obtaining UNHCR registration and common misunderstandings encountered during interviews. We used this opportunity to advocate for the refugee community, helping to bring clarity and solutions to support their migration journey and ensure their safety.
