We are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the “Charting a Lasting Peace in Myanmar” program. This initiative was led by the Conflict and Resilience Research Institute Canada (CRRIC) and the Southeast Asian Human Rights and Peace Studies Network (SEAHRN), in collaboration with Malaysian partner organizations Myanmar Ethnics Organization and North South Initiatives.
Key Participants and Discussions
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Canadian Embassy and leaders from the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR). Participants engaged in an exchange of views regarding:
- Ongoing conflicts within Myanmar.
- The current situation of refugees and migrants.
- Challenges surrounding human rights and democracy.
- Ethnic reconciliation and efforts to combat misinformation.
Inclusion and Future Outlook
Beyond addressing current crises, the program served as a platform to share vital perspectives on amplifying the voices and participation of ethnic minorities and marginalized groups in peacebuilding processes. The sessions also produced significant insights and policy recommendations aimed at fostering future cooperation.
Acknowledgements
We extend our sincere gratitude to all the organizations, activists, and experts who participated in these discussions and contributed to the success of this program.
